Someone to Trust

I often wondered if life came with either instruction manuals or map, our lives would have been easier. But since we are always left clueless about what will happen next, we end up having a fight or flight response. Life, as defined by most, is usually a struggle, a battle to be won. I should know, because I used to think that life is something I should plan in order to survive.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.

Proverbs 19:21

One could never get to know God enough, but one could get to trust God enough, to the point of surrendering one’s life to His will. I learned this thing in a hard, painful way. I noticed before that the more I pursue my plans, the more I end up failing (even the plans I thought was best for me) because at the end of the day, God is still the only ONE who knows what’s best for us. He has our best interest at heart.

“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”

Luke 11:11-13

To trust Him is the key. Though we may never understand His thoughts and ways, for me, it’s comforting to know that someone loves me enough to plan my life from beginning to end. To obey is another issue, of course. After all, even if He has our lives all planned out, He cannot force himself on us. To love, to trust and to obey Him are still for us to decide.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

Psalm 32:8

Get to know Him more, and though I can’t assure you that your life will be free from trials, I’m sure that it gets easier each day as long as you cling to Him. The burden is lighter if shared with friends, but with God, He just doesn’t take His share, He carries all the burden for us.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

If He calls for you today, would you respond?
